Magic Mushroom Montreal, Fun Guyz, Shroom City and Shroom City Open in Montreal

The Canadian city of Montreal exudes cultural vibrancy, from the cobblestoned Vieux-Montreal — with its Gothic Revival Notre-Dame Basilica — to bohemian Plateau. But the Quebec province’s biggest city is also a gateway to another kind of journey, with mushroom stores like Fun Guyz, Shroom City and Magic Mushroom Montreal hawking illegal hallucinogenic fungi. Driven by changing attitudes, evolving medical research and a small change in federal drug policy, shops selling psilocybin — the main psychoactive ingredient in magic mushrooms — are popping up across the country.URL:shroomhub.io

Magic Mushroom Montreal: Health Benefits and Risks

Last summer, a Montreal business called FunGuyz opened and began offering pills, dried fungi and chocolate bars that contain the psychedelic agent psilocybin, which is subject to sale and possession bans in Canada. Its first day in operation, the shop was raided by police. A mother and her son were arrested, and five others faced similar charges. After reopening, the store was raided again. On Thursday, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) searched for the shop on Ontario Street in the Montreal borough of Ville-Marie. Police say they arrested a 24-year-old man and seized drugs at the store, which was closed on Thursday.

The Fun Guyz location is the third in the city to be shut down by police this year. Its owner, David Farzin, argues that many people are interested in microdoses, or low-dose self-medication with the psychedelic substance. But while spore kits that allow users to grow their own magic mushrooms are legal, purchasing the actual fungi is not. While it’s possible to hunt for psilocybin mushrooms in the wild, that can take time, require specialized skills and can be dangerous.
